Dan Skinner
Profile
I am an ambitious, diligent and hard working high school pupil. I am currently progressing in my studies towards an SQA Higher qualification in Human Biology, Computing Science, English and Mathematics. I am also progressing in my study towards an NPA in Cyber Security. I have developed good attention to detail and a persistent desire to be challenged and improve. I have the capacity to work with multiple projects both individually and as part of a team. This can be demonstrated in my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award where I completed all tasks within their deadline and acquired a range of skills while doing so. The skills which I have developed in secondary school give me a solid foundation from which to challenge myself and so further develop my skillset. Above all I am willing to learn and get a great insight into an area where I hope to develop.
Volunteering
Throughout 2020 until 2022 - I volunteered with Roots HHFS Food Bank, a local food bank based in Bonnybridge. During my time at Roots I developed a range of skills and demonstrated my existing skills. Detailed below are some of the many activities and tasks that I was expected to carry out:
- Work as part of a team to run a children's summer activity programme
- Packed and organised a van for food delivery and furniture delivery
- Prepared food parcels
- Cleaned and organised storage areas in a logical order
- Created a website allowing people to access information and securely send requests for food parcels
- Communicated with vulnerable groups
- Assisted members of the public with community information and resources
- Supported other team members where necessary
All of these duties and activities have assisted me in enhancing current skills and gaining new skills.
